A digital-to-physical service concept that turns a prosthesis scan into a canvas for self-expression—designed online, previewed in 3D, printed to fit, and delivered across Hong Kong.
The opportunity
Mass-produced accessories rarely reflect the person who wears them—or the exact geometry of their prosthesis.
FORME reframes a functional device as something people can confidently personalise, refresh and make visible on their own terms.

One connected journey
The concept combines accessible photogrammetry, a visual DIY experience and localised digital manufacturing. Each stage is designed to keep the user in control.
Use a supported iPhone 3D scanner or guided photogrammetry to capture the prosthesis from multiple angles—without scanning the user’s body.
Phone-basedChoose a cover form, colour, texture and stickers. The prosthesis model becomes a personal design canvas.
User-ledReview the idea as a 3D visual before production. Rotate it, compare looks and confirm the preferred direction.
See before makingTranslate the approved concept into a fitted, removable 3D-printed cover or decorative accessory, then ship it to the user.
Made to fitThe online design vision
The proposed workspace simplifies complex modelling into familiar choices: select a cover, set a finish, place graphics and review the result. This static scene illustrates the intended experience—it does not process files or create orders.
Designed responsibly
The concept treats fit, dignity and data privacy as core design requirements—not afterthoughts.
The intended capture flow focuses on external prosthesis geometry. Users should understand what is captured, why it is needed and when it is deleted.
Generated accessories must avoid joints, controls and load-bearing parts. A production workflow would include fit and safety checks before fabrication.
Covers and decorations are envisioned as non-permanent additions, allowing a user to change the look without changing the prosthesis.
The service should be co-designed with Hong Kong prosthesis users, rehabilitation professionals and fabricators so that real needs shape every decision.

Who we are
We are students from Integrative Systems and Design (ISD) at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology’s Academy of Interdisciplinary Studies (AIS). FORME is our concept for Hack4SDG, focused on a more inclusive everyday experience for Hong Kong’s limb-different community.
